LINK: www.cr31.co.uk/stagecast/index.htmlcr31 is where I post completed Stagecast sims. It also has tutorials and resources like 32x32 pixel icons. I used to teach games programming and used Stagecast to encourage students to think logically. Most sims explore self sorting interactions between multiple objects and the resulting overall effect. Some sims create mazes or terrain patches, which are the basis of many games. Sims are constantly updated as they are improved -so check back often!

You have a lot of sims that generate random paths. I found them very interesting; Are you familiar with the "Mystery Dungeon" series of games? It's known for being able to randomly generate perfectly workable dungeons so that each playthrough is different. I might have to use some of your ideas and try re-making that game!

You're welcome to use any of my ideas, I can provide original sims if it helps you at all. They are all 'relative' so will work on stages of any size, with or without wrapping. Never played 'Mystery Dungeon' but have always liked the concept of randomly generated play fields. I used a Doom plug-in which created huge random maps Also, I think I made a random dungeon sim a few years back. I seem to remember it worked OK(ish). I'll have a look for it...

Cool. In Mystery Dungeon, it will create hallways and rooms. I'm mostly having trouble deciding how to separate rooms from halls...

Here is the dungeon www.cr31.co.uk/stagecast/all/dungeon.htmlIt's not quite Mystery Dungeon as only paths (hallways?), no rooms. Best to separate these with a wall of one tile thick. Else you need to create patches and keep sprites within a patch. I do have a random patch / terrain sim somewhere...may dig it out

Interesting! Can you provide the original sim? I'd like to take a look at the rules to see how everything works. I'm starting to get an idea of how I might be able to create a room with this type of thing. You seem to have a lot of experience with path-building sims. I'll bet there are a lot of ways you could add onto what you have!
