(NOTE: This is an older version of the game. See this topic for the re-make of this game: stagecast.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=wip&action=display&thread=38)
Genre: Adventure/Platformer
Players: One
Summary:
The kingdom of Erno has been taken over by an unknown evil and its people stolen away. A wandering adventurer, Riken, stumbles across the town but finds it deserted. He soon finds out about the town's predicament and is thrown into something far larger than he ever predicted.
I say this is a Platformer, but it's only SORT of a Platformer. Riken gains the ability to jump later in the game, but at first, players have to use elevators scattered throughout the levels to get to different heights. It's not exactly period-correct, but they've been there since I started this game years ago. Anyway. Riken can shoot a Magic Missile that can go up to five spaces without disappearing. Riken uses these missiles to fight the various monsters that stand in his path. There are also hidden means to kill certain monsters, but for now, you won't be finding many.
The story generally speaks for itself; the main thing I'd like to point out about this game is the second Boss. I enjoyed creating him. He takes a while to beat and is actually pretty challenging.
FEATURES:
- Every world sees you gaining a new ability. These abilities are utilized in the various Worlds after each, and each one plays a vital part in destroying the Great Evil.
- Eight different Worlds (three are complete at the moment I think)
- A "Points" system. When you kill an enemy, you gain points! As an added bonus, you also gain "HPR" Points, or Hit Point Regeneration Points. When you gain 100 of these, you get a bit of HP back! It's the only way to heal, but at the same time, there's no cap on how much HP you can have!
- A few extra features, such as a little Maze and a room where you can fight infinite monsters to restore HP and gain points.
- Ranking at the end of the game (This will be based upon the amount of Points you have at the end)
- Save/Load feature (Not implemented; waiting until I finish the game first. I don't need it to playtest)
BUGS:
- You can't go back to World Three once you're done with it; I haven't jerry-rigged it to work yet. XD I don't think I have the third boss done, either. Remember, you can always return to Erno Town by pressing Escape to use the Gem.
- Some of the text is a little bit odd. Most text beyond the point that is in this demo should be utilizing my newer text system.
- I've run into a few problems with actually returning to Erno Town. I'm not sure what's causing it, so if you experience any strange bugs (Elevators being unreachable in town, saved citizens appearing on top of blocks, etc.), please let me know what you did before getting that effect.
- There may be others that I'm unaware of, so if you find anything strange happening, do let me know.
Anyway, I hope you enjoy this demo! Any feedback is welcome.
